Real-Time Translation
Whisperer translates meeting participants' speech in real time and shows the translation directly in the overlay — without switching windows and without delay. This is especially useful on international calls when the other person speaks a different language.
When to Use
- Calls with foreign partners or colleagues.
- Interviews in a foreign language where you need to understand questions and quickly prepare answers.
- Negotiations with clients across multiple languages.
- Language learning: meetings with native speakers with instant translation of unclear utterances.
How to Enable
- Open client Settings (gear icon).
- Find the "Translation" section.
- Enable the "Real-Time Translation" toggle.
- Select the target language (the language to translate into) and, if needed, the source language (the language to translate from).
- Start or resume a session — the translation will appear in the TranslationStrip below the transcript.

What the Translation Looks Like
The overlay adds a TranslationStrip — a thin row below the main transcript:
- [Me] and [Other] utterances are translated independently.
- The translation appears one to two seconds after the original utterance.
- The original and the translation are displayed simultaneously (original in LiveTranscriptStrip, translation in TranslationStrip).
Translation Settings
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Target language | The language to translate into (e.g., English) |
| Source language | The language to translate from (auto-detect or fixed) |
| Translate counterpart only | Convenient when your own language is clear to you |
Common Errors
| Error | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| TranslationStrip does not appear | Translation is not enabled in settings | Enable the toggle in Settings |
| Translation delay > 5 seconds | Slow internet connection | Check your connection; translation requires an additional API call |
| Wrong source language | Auto-detection failed | Manually fix the source language in settings |
| Translation does not appear on Free | Translation requires a paid plan | Upgrade to Start or higher |
Best Practices
- Choose a fixed source language if the call is strictly in one language: accuracy is higher.
- Enable "Translate counterpart only" on bilingual calls where you speak your native language.
- Use AI suggestions together with translation: once you understand the other person's utterance, you can immediately ask Whisperer to prepare a response.
