Quickstart in 5 minutes
Overview
This page walks you through the full path: from creating an account to your first working session in the overlay. Each step is briefly described here, with the details broken out into separate linked articles. If you're just getting acquainted with the product, start with the overview What is Whisperer.
When to use it
Use this guide the first time you launch Whisperer — once you've installed the client and paired your device, you won't need to come back to it. If you already have an account and an installed client, go straight to your first session.
Step-by-step
- Sign up. Open the web dashboard, enter your name, email, and a password (at least 8 characters), and complete the captcha.
- Confirm your email. A 6-digit code will arrive in your inbox (valid for 5 minutes, up to 3 attempts). Enter it — you can't sign in without confirmation. You can request the code again about once a minute.
- Choose a plan. The Free plan includes 60 minutes per month and basic features. The core of the product — sessions, the knowledge base, advanced modes — requires an active paid subscription (Start, Pro, or Max). See the article Plans and subscription for details.
- Install the desktop client. Download the build for your OS from the web dashboard (downloads section) and install the app: for Mac — Installing the macOS client, for Windows — Installing the Windows client.
- Pair your device. Link the client to your account with a one-time code: open the pairing page in the web app, and the client receives its tokens automatically. See Desktop pairing.
- Grant permissions. On first launch a permissions wizard opens. On macOS you need three accesses — Microphone, Screen Recording, and Accessibility; see macOS permissions. On Windows only the microphone is required (the other person's system audio is captured without any additional permission); see Windows permissions.
- Your first session. Open the overlay, press play, and run your first meeting. See Your first session: step by step.

Common mistakes
- The confirmation code wasn't entered in time. The code lives for 5 minutes — if it expires, request a new one.
- Trying to start a session on Free without a subscription. The 60 Free minutes don't unlock the core (sessions, knowledge base); full functionality requires a paid subscription.
- Skipping permissions. On macOS, without "Screen Recording" Whisperer can't hear the other person and can't take screenshots; on Windows you only need microphone access. Grant the accesses in step 6.
Best practices
- Sign up with an email you can access quickly — the confirmation code is valid for only 5 minutes.
- On macOS, grant all three permissions at once on first launch so you don't interrupt your first meeting; on Windows, allowing the microphone once is enough.
- Run a test call with a colleague before an important meeting to confirm the other person is heard in the transcript.
